Marqueece Harris-Dawson

is the president and CEO of Community Coalition, a social justice nonprofit organization based in South Los Angeles. Harris-Dawson came to the helm of Community Coalition in 2004 after years of hard work as a community organizer – leading the organization to its first educational justice victories.Harris-Dawson has been active in South L.A. for more than 20 years, leading campaigns aimed at improving the quality of life for African American and Latinoresidents.www.cocosouthla.org 

Dr. Manuel Pastor

is a professor of American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California where he directs USC’s Program for Environmental and Regional Equity (PERE) and co-directs the Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration (CSII). His research has focused on the economic, environmental and social conditions facing low-income urban communities in the U.S. His most recent books include “Just Growth: Inclusion and Prosperity in America’s Metropolitan Regions” (co-authored with Chris Benner) and “Uncommon Common Ground: Race and America’s Future” (co authored with Angela Glover Blackwell and Stewart Kwoh).dornsife.usc.edu/perecsii.usc.edu
